Weight Loss Tips With Diet and Exercise

For those trying to lose weight, modifying your diet and starting to incorporate exercise in is the key to reducing fat and getting healthier. Certain kinds of exerices such as running, power yoga, biking, spin classes, fast walking or core pilates or pilates power classes help with your diet modifications as well.

If you have kids it can be challenging to feed them healthy snacks that they like that are not overly processed. Most of the snacks that come in boxes have all kinds of trans-fats in them. Healthy alternative for snacks can include foods that are not overly processed such as vegetables with hummus or rice cakes. Carrot sticks and celery sticks with almond or peanut butter is a much better alternative than box snack foods. Organic cheese sticks are a healthy and kid-friendly snack alternative. Almonds are also a great snack for kids and adults alike. Soaking them in water for a few hours helps them to be even healthier and they are easier to chew.

Avoid drinking sodas or even fruit flavored sugar filled drinks that can be very denourishing. Drinking herbal tea or water flavored with orange or lemon slices is a better alternative to soda or fruit-flavored drinks. If you drink coffee avoid getting a bunch of cream, milk, sugar or any other sweet syrup added to it. If you put something in your coffee then non-fat milk, rice milk, cinnamon or stevia are great ways to flavor it.

Emotional eating can be a big factor to over eating. If you are over-eating or eating poor foods then The root of morbid obesity is often emotional trauma. Some people also have a genetic predisposition to obesity. Poor eating habits are often a symtom of emotional trauma. Mindfulness, exercise and eating a clean diet with no processed foods and eating until your stomach feel 3/4 full. Eating slowly and only take a tablespoon worth of food on your fork or spoon is another way to portion control. It takes a long time for your brain to get the message that your stomach is full so the slower you eat and the more you chew your food the more you can portion control.

There are all kinds of reasons for wanting to lose weight and start to exercise.Think about your ultimate goal for staying healthy and for exercsing. Have your motivating factor in the forefront of your mind such as controlling your diabetes, fitting into your wedding dress, looking good for swimsuit season or being able to be active enough to enjoy your grandchildren. Be mindful and keep the bigger picture in the forefront.
